About This Service

Eligibility criteria

Adults registered with a GP in the NHS Mid Essex area.


Patients with underlying conditions, such as cardiac disease, may be unsuitabled for treatment.

Service details

We provide individualised, specialised treatments encompassing the four cornerstones of care for lymphoedema. These include:

  • Skin care.
  • Compression therapy.
  • Simple lymphatic drainage.
  • Exercise.

Intensive therapy can also be provided for those patients with complex Lymphoedema.

Service Delivery

The service is available :

  • Monday to Friday 9:00 to 17:00 Hrs at Braintree Community Hospital, and...
  • Monday 9:00 to 17:00 Hrs at Halstead Hospital

Service is closed on Bank Holidays.

Referral process

You must be referred by a healthcare professional, such as your GP or consultant.

Following referral, you should be seen within 12 weeks. Patients may be prioritised according to individual need.
