Providing assessment, diagnosis, investigation and treatment of skin conditions.

Available Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm

About this service

Eligibility criteria

Adults registered with a GP in the NHS Mid Essex area.


  • Malignant melanoma - and naevi with feature highly suggestive of melanoma.
  • Squamous cell carcinoma.
  • Hydradenitis suppurativa.
  • Ganglion/myxoid cyst.
  • Lesions on the breast that infer they could be cancerous.
  • Patients requiring roaccutane.

Service details

We treat acute and chronic dermatological conditions. These include:

  • Acne
  • Bacterial & fungal infections
  • Eczema
  • Hair and nail disorders
  • Psoriasis
  • Rosacea 

We offer the following procedures:

  • Cryotherapy
  • Skin scrapes

We refer on for:

  • Minor surgery – as an out-patient at our Braintree Community Hospital Minor Operations Unit or other location.
  • Education – advice on self management.
  • More specialist advice and treatment at the acute hospital, if required

Our service is delivered by GPs With a Special Interest in Dermatology.

  • Tuesday - St Peter's Hospital, Maldon
  • Wednesday - St Peter's Hospital, Maldon
  • Thursday - Braintree Community Hospital, Braintree

Referral process

You must be referred by a healthcare professional, such as a GP or consultant.

We will endeavour to see you within 18 weeks of referral.
