Richard Atienza-Hawkes

Executive Director, Human Resource & Organisational Development

Richard leads the strategic and operational delivery of Provide’s organisational development agenda – fostering a customer-centric focus across all areas of the organisation.

Richard is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development with 20 years’ senior management experience in the public and not for profit sector. He initially worked in the field of HIV/AIDS as a virologist before moving into learning and development and subsequently Human Resource Management.

Together with his fellow Board members, Richard has worked with staff to get Provide into the ‘Ones to Watch’ category of the Sunday Times accreditation scheme – recognising Provide as a good organisation to work for. The Best Companies system measures employees’ levels of fulfilment, motivation and engagement, and is based on the same methods which produce the well-known Sunday Times list of 100 Best Companies to work for.

Richard is currently studying for a masters-level postgraduate diploma in organisational leadership - a programme designed for high achievers, at the University of Oxford’s Said Business School.

Richard says: “I am passionate about supporting staff to function effectively, through promoting leadership, nurturing talent and building organisational resilience and capacity.”
