Our specialist nurses provide information and support to people with Parkinson's disease to maintain their quality of life, and providing assistance to families and carers.

About This Service

Eligibility criteria

Adults (18+) registered with a GP in the NHS Mid Essex area with a confirmed medical diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease or Parkinsonian syndrome.

Service details

 

Our specialist clinicians provide assessment, advice and a holistic approach to treating the symptoms of Parkinson’s, through the following stages of the disease:

  • Diagnosis
  • Maintenance
  • Complex problems
  • Palliative care

 

We offer the following information and support:

  • Medication review and management.
  • Treatment and access to other professionals, such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and   language therapists and dieticians.
  • Information about local services and support groups.

Service Delivery

We hold our clinics in the community at:

  • St Peter’s Hospital, Maldon
  • St Michaels Hospital, Braintree
  • Springfield Green Clinic, Chelmsford

 

Appointments must be booked through our office at St Peter’s Hospital in Maldon, which is open part time between the hours of 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.

We can provide limited assessments at home for people who are housebound. 

Referral process

  • You must be referred by a healthcare professional, such as a GP or consultant.
  • You will be assessed within two to six weeks of referral, depending on referral urgency.
  • We will contact you to arrange an appointment at a suitable time and location.
