About This Service

Eligibility Criteria

You will need to be registered with a GP Practice based in the Mid Essex area and have a musculoskeletal condition requiring treatment.

NOTE: Some conditions may not be covered but your healthcare professional will be able to check this prior to confirming your referral.

Service Details

We provide a comprehensive management of patients with musculoskeletal disorders. 

Our service consists of highly trained, state-registered physiotherapy and occupational therapy practitioners, with a wide range of skills, that assess, diagnose and treat patients. 

The care we offer includes:

  • Individual assessment.
  • Explanation of the condition – providing the patient with an informed therapy choice.
  • Engagement in formulation of an appropriate management plan, including timely goal setting.
  • Evidence-based therapy interventions including: Advice on condition management, individual and group exercise programmes, manual therapy, manipulation, acupuncture, electrotherapy, extra-corporeal shockwave therapy, diagnostic ultrasound imaging and guided joint and soft-tissue cortico-steroid injections.
  • Access to urgent diagnostics, including x-ray, ultrasound, blood testing and MRI imaging.

Service Delivery

Our service is outpatient based, at the following main locations:

  • Braintree Community Hospital: Mon-Fri, 7.30am-7.30pm
  • St Peter's Hospital, Maldon: Mon-Fri, 7.30am-6.30pm
  • Springfield Green Clinic, Chelmsford:  Mon-Fri 7.30am-7pm
  • Halstead Hospital: Mon & Tues: 8am-4pm; Weds: 8am-5pm; Thurs: 7.30am-4pm; Fri: 8am-5pm.

We run outreach clinics at:

  • South Woodham Ferrers Health Centre: Wednesdays 9am-4.30pm and Fridays 1-4.30pm
  • Burnham-on-Crouch Health Centre: Wednesdays 8.30am-4pm
  • Spinks Lane Health Centre, Witham: Wednesdays 8.30am-12.00

Referral Process

You must be referred by a healthcare professional, such as:

  • Your GP
  • The Central Referral Service (CRS)
  • Community and social care providers
  • Mid Essex Hospitals NHS Trust (MEHT) practitioners
  • Other acute providers
