Service details

We use a family-centred approach to occupational therapy to enable children to function, develop and enjoy all aspects of their lives to their fullest capacity.

We offer a range of occupational therapy assessments, advice and individual and group treatment.

Children are seen for the following reasons:

  • Social communication disorders.
  • Co-ordination difficulties.
  • Sensory processing difficulties and arousal states, such as ADHD.
  • Fine motor and writing difficulties.

We can offer the following treatment and interventions:

  • 24-hour postural management advice and procurement of equipment for children with long-term conditions, neuro-developmental and musculo-skeletal conditions.
  • Support to children post-surgery, after Botox and with palliative-care needs.
  • Upper-limb splinting.
  • Access and inclusion advice in all environments.

Specialist school motor assessments are carried out jointly with the Physiotherapy Service.

Our team includes qualified occupational therapists and nursery nurses.

All children are seen within 18 weeks and prioritised according to clinical need and age, with pre-school children taking precedence due to their greater potential for rehabilitation.
